the pupil is convinced she’s ready
for the test, exam, graduation
but the teacher sees through her confidence
and spots many things she’s still got to learn

it’s the instincts of a child to always feel ready
but the adult teacher stares
at her readiness and sees naivity

but a child’s ignorance isn’t always a bad thing
for to navigate through certain spheres of life
the wise must sometimes act ignorant and foolish
like children

talk of navigation
think of fathers
they are maps, compass, road signs
that only the lost understand their usefulness

there are bad teachers
and there are those we will forever remember
as contributing significantly to what we have become today
Some father’s may be irresponsible
but you and I know
of fathers who have sacrificed their health
to build children, build homes, mentor others
and to buy a future for many
including those that are not their own blood

Happy father’s day to all men!❤️❤️

  1. Fatherhood isn’t explored or talked about enough. My own relationship with my father is complicated by so many things, but on this day, on Father’s Day, it’s good to remember the ways in which he shaped who I am today. Thank you for the reminder of what fatherhood can be.
