Our stories are very much similar than we think. We see differences because we do not share our stories, or if we do, the motives are very different. If only we will connect the dots in every personal struggle we are bold to share with those of other bold individuals, we will see how the same life seems to relive itself in different beings, in different places, in different ways.
I think humans, irrespective of their race, colour, religion, or status in life, are very much similar in many ways.
Mine isn’t a story of a struggle, but of my creative writing journey. I hope that by sharing, someone now starting out will be able to draw inspiration and become better…
I have noticed that many ideas and inspiration to write poems, motivational pieces or stories come to me while I am in church. I do not know why this is the case, although some ideas do come to me while I am engaged in other activities. Church is the primary source of my creative writing ideas.
And on one Sunday while returning from church, a few meters to my house, I get this idea. It was at a point in my life where I felt like giving up on many things. And God opened my eyes to the metaphor of trees and the seasons, how each season, the good and the ugly, contribute to giving trees a rounded growth. The imagery gave me so much strength that once I got home, I took a pen and paper to write it down.
I have always viewed my write-ups, specifically my motivational pieces, as healing for my bruises . I find them soothing, and I return to them from time to time to remind myself of promises I have made to myself, leaving them on my blog post as mirrors for others to look into, draw inspiration and healing to carry on.
The title of the motivational piece I wrote that Sunday afternoon was “Seasons”, and below is the link to it:
