Fireworks and chilly winds

fireworks, chilly winds
I lay in bed, lying on my side
facing the open window
a moonless sky lit with sparkling stars
Christmas is a month away
but I can smell it miles away
thinking
of all the things
and people
that have come and gone
thinking
of my life now
and what is to come
