She said she couldn’t see anything in her dreams whenever she  slept in a dark room. The lights must be on before she could make sense of anything in her dreams.

“You mean when the lights in your room are out, there is neither sunshine or any ray of light in your dreams? “ the psychologist asked.

” Yes. Everything moves in darkness so I am unable to  recognize anything.” Anna clarified.

Initially, the psychologist seemed amused. But this was no joking matter.

She thought for a while.

Definitely never heard of such a thing. Was this a psychological problem or a spiritual one? She wondered.

She thought of calling a senior colleague. Certainly not in front of the client. Neither she nor her friend on the other end of the call will be able to keep a straight face discussing this issue.

Sounds amusing, but a big issue for the young girl sitting before her.

“Why don’t we let some months pass and see if there will be some improvement.” the psychologist advised.

“It’s been like this since childhood.” Anna informed her.

“What did your parents do about it?“

” They took me to various pastors, counselors, and some weired spiritualists who concocted all kinds of explanations.”

“Since you’ve been to many counselors and had no results, why did you come to me?“

“A friend recommended you. She told me about how you helped her overcome a major problem eating her up. She said you were different and that you were reputable for helping clients with complex psychological issues.”

“I am flattered. But I must admit that your case is unique. Come back next week. I have to do some reading, some digging. And I have to talk to an old friend who specializes in these things.”
