Can you feel the silence?

The resilience of a people
Crushed into hate
Like juice of grapes
Tettered to constant shelling
And constant selling
Of half-truths and half-baked
Realities by the media

Surgical scissors and needles
May sew wounds
But they can’t cup deep enough
To reach the brokenness within
To sew and stitch
Broken hopes and promises

Can you feel the silence
Of budding innocent lives mowed down
Begging us to join our voices
To end senseless wars
And senseless violence?

  1. Benji, this one hits me hard. The way you wrote “like juice of grapes / tettered to constant shelling” really stays with me—it says so much in so few words.

    Much love,
