I used to think of waiting till I am excellent at what I do before I begin, waiting to be perfect, waiting for the perfect conditions. I didn’t know perfection is a lifelong journey that only begins when we decide to start unprepared.
I used to underrate the things I did. They seem to not have any significance until I decided to halt. Like posting motivational messages on my WhatsApp status. Like writing and posting on my blog even when I feel the write-up is not as good as I wanted it to be.
I noticed people watch and are inspired by our consistency, inspired by the little things we do no matter how unimportant they may seem. Many people watch us from the shadows without commenting or signaling that they are seeing us.
One day, someone bumped into my post on WordPress and was impressed, was encouraged, the message I posted spoke to their situation and they commented. This was a very old post I had even forgotten about.
Everything is important. We must never give up what we do, especially the little things that might seem to be of no use to anyone.
Even with my writings I notice the brilliant ideas to write great stuff come from consistency, writing even when I feel uninspired. Today the write-up might not be as good as I wanted but as I keep up writing, I get ideas on how to improve, I get inspired to write an interesting story or an insightful motivational piece.
A writer might feel there is no audience for what they write but there are always people out there that will fall in love with your style of expressing yourself. You just have to remain original, true to yourself and continue to be you.
Sometimes people appear to dislike something because they have never seen its kind. When you are the pioneer of an idea, style or a particular way of seeing things, objections, rejections and sometimes negative criticisms are some of the reactions you receive.
But never give up. Keep being you. Your kind will soon appreciate you for who you are and have been. Time will honor your consistency and the silent impact you’ve made in so many lives.
