Refuse to grow
You’ll soon be glowing
In the discomforting light
Of stunted growth
It’s a harsh world
Where its builders banish
Those who stay back
Lay back
While everything around them is changing
What does adulthood look like?
A mirage for many youth
Soon the illusion
That being an adult
Brings immense freedom without responsibilities
Fades like echoes in a forgotten dream
It’s those who sit in the spectators’ stand
That always seem to know
How a game could be played better
Till they’re handed the baton
Passed the ball
Soon they see the great chasm
Separating
A game played in person
And one played on the lips
