Wood refuses to catch fire
It’s wet
Been raining these past few days
Drying up will take some time
But the sun will surely come
Will surely shine
Wood and fire will embrace once more
In crackling laughter
Without warning
The promising tree is chopped down
To begin from scratch, begin from the bottom
But like it’s done before
With little drops of water
Wind and sunshine
Green shoots spring up everwhere
On the shattered tree
Where the giant log once stood
A tiny shoot rises gradually
To take its place
Reclaim its name among the tall trees
To dying coals of fire
Winds will come
From nowhere, unexpectedly
And rekindle the forgotten fire
Warming wet logs nearby
Setting them ablaze
Shining bright like never before
Giving light, giving hope, giving warmth
