A child in my class walked up to me and told me that he spotted me walking to school and he told his dad to pick me up in their car but his father said they were late and the stop would delay them further.

It’s the second time on two separate occasions he’s told me the same thing. This time, he added that I should not worry, that next time his dad will stop and pick me up. I smiled, listening to the comforting words of the child. Innocence.

I admire the sincerity of a child. Wish I could be that honest at all times. But they say, not all truths need to be told.

I admire the energy of the young. Restless. Wish I could play on end, laughing and dancing through the seasons. But not everything that happens to a human is funny.

Children keep grudges. But not for long. Wish I had a heart that had no room to store offences. But there are faces one must forgive but not forget.

We were created perfect children. What have we grown into?
