foggy path

she strutted through the open door
to a photograph on the room wall
a supermodel in a nude pose starred
down at her
she had come to say goodbye
to years gone by

every girl
he’s tried to bend
into a relationship, broke
no choice but to let it all go
seems he too had come to the terminus
of writhing in wrath and endless misfortunes

she’s in love, with him, on this new path
in a foggy forest, listening to the crush
of crisp salt water on rocks
and soothing talks of tying the knot
a longing snuffed out a long time ago
now rekindled on a morning so cold
