life wields a set of unfortunate incidents into a powerful anvil against which I am being struck
the strikes are persistent and slow, draining me of every urge to hold on
the clinical, persistent strikes linger, my resilience is a palpable mass of bleeding mess
It pays to be patient
but patience is difficult to master
requires wisdom to muster
and nurture into a latent
invincible force
impatience is poisonous to beautiful endings
like family drama and bad weather
to a beautiful wedding
like fair-weather friends to lasting friendships
I refuse to bend
I’ll live to tell
my story, my survival
the trials, the wild miles
infirmities and uncertainties
that seemed to go on for eternity
