The temptation to use a shortcut to a desired destination will always be there, like a seductive prompt, ticking like a clock, ticking your thoughts into confused contemplation. But like Rick Warren once said, there are no shortcuts to maturity.

Obstacles force the mind to become multidimensional in its view, in its analysis, gaining insights closed to many. We may eliminate the struggle towards achieving a goal, but at what price? And for what reason?

The world is indeed evolving at such a fast pace that even donkeys, horses and carmels who used to be kings of the highways sometimes wonder if they belong here.

However, the place of virtues such as hardwork, honesty, discipline, diligence and integrity have remained intact over the ages, although many people have tried to evict them.

In our efforts to console ourselves and soot our hurts, we invent movies in which crimes are punished and evil is banished. But in real life, many get away with various wrongdoings, heinous crimes and other  abominable evils.

Should we abandon our principles of fairness and integrity because sometimes it seems doing good doesn’t pay and Karma seems to have a short memory to remember all the people that must be visited?

Whether we choose the long road to freedom or the shortcut to God knows what, let us remember that every decision is a contribution to the making of the self.
