I have witnessed mankind’s countless fruitless efforts to destroy termite mounds.

Slash down the mounds, the termites rebuild. Slash again, the termites  rebuild and rebuild. You hit them, they keep coming.

Tiny insects, of which five can be squashed under the thumb of a human, build giant houses for themselves, houses sometimes taller than the tallest human, without any cement, brick, or machinery – just bare hands and determination. Houses that adjusts and adapts to the temperature of its environment.

They only stop building, or rebuilding, when their king is captured. The king gives instructions for their activities. Until their roots are crushed, they never give up.

Theirs is an inspirational story, one of determination, persistence, a message of never giving up and being prepared to restart from scratch again and again, blind to obstacles, eyes on the ultimate goal.
