Whenever new things are created, there are those who celebrate the new milestone and there are others who specialize in criticizing it. Sometimes, the criticism is constructive.

Some people, however, are never interested in asking questions with the aim of getting to know new things better, and perhaps find out how to be better positioned to maximize the benefits from the new concept, innovation or venture.

When AI was first introduced in the academic circles, many lecturers, especially the old ones, said it will make students lazy. It implied that for students who were already lazy, their disease was about to get worse.

Others said AI would make students stupid since it readily provided answers without making them think.

I personally think so far us human hands have crafted something, it will ways be tainted with defects.

AI will always have limitations, despite the constant improvements.

But I also think that the bird that goes far is one that exploits new winds to carry it farther than it could have done flapping its wings.

In every generation, at every particular point in human history, there will be new inventions and innovations to soften life for mankind. Many should be taken advantage of.

Why continue to depend on a donkey for intercontinental transportation when an airplane is there?

I always admire the hard life of the ancients. I think it made them smart and innovative and strong. That is why I believe in balance. Take advantage of creations that are designed to soften hard life, but don’t overly depend on them to your detriment.

For Africa, I think our continent is slowly waking up to so many possibilities in diverse fields.

Africa and Africans are not slow. They are just as smart and equally capable of great achievements made in other places in the world.

The major impediment to the development of Africans and their continent is politics, saturated with greedy individuals who think only of their bellies and inflating bank accounts, forgetting that they won’t take a penny into their coffins when they die.

These politicians forget that the true essence of leadership is to serve, to be a servant, and if possible a slave to the people, sacrificing time, energy, resources and intellect to the betterment of one’s jurisdiction.

I am not saying all African politicians are evil. There are selfless ones. But they are so few that if you were searching for them in a haystack, you might as well give up the search.

Another key hurdle in the way of the development of Africans is too many dependants.

Those who make it have too many people looking up to them for their livelihood and survival and this drains them economically, monies that could have been channeled into other money-making opportunities so that the wealth grows and benefit many more people.

On the question of Africa and AI, I think the continent can exploit AI to make huge progress.

Whether or not AI might worsen the employment rate on the continent is debatable.

Personally, I think machines cannot entirely replace humans.

There are things metals and rubber cannot see that only flesh and blood with a soul can see and do.

Hmm… It’s a sad reality. We can only hope that things get better tomorrow.

We can and we do hope but unless a miracle happens, it’s not likely.

    well said…
People talk about AI as being the future, but truth is its no longer the future, its here… and the longer we take to figure out its adoption beyond hosting symposiums in fancy conference centres that gobble loads of budgets instead of implementing and funding tech innovations, the more we get left behind…

      So true.

I just missed of them symposiums today 😂… Monies that can be pumped into funding tech innovations are used to fund long talks that only God knows what comes out of them😅
