When political opponents are seeking power, they are experts at critiquing the current government.

They speak the mind and language of the masses, language that resonate with the plight of ordinary citizens.

“Look at your condition and vote wisely.” they tell voters.

And those in opposition are so good at exaggerating the problems of the country. They never mention things that they have personally done to ease the burden of the people while in opposition and in what ways they’re limited because they are not in government and how winning power can enhance their noble mission of bettering lives.

They always mention what they’ll do but never how, under the guise of protecting their strategies from being tapped into by the government.

The opposition exaggerate economic hardships in the country and yet during elections, millions are pumped into bribing electoral officials and voters with the hope of overturning things in their favor, never mentioning the source of their income in a country they claim is economically crippled.

The government and the opposition are often times locked in senseless back and forth arguments and blame games, whereas the majority of the people are suffering, whereas the real thieves looting the nation’s resources still roam free on the roads, whereas the real issues that require collaborations to efficiently solve are neglected.

Young people are forced to risk their lives to cross oceans into greener pastures, some women forced to become prostitutes, not necessarily like the kinds on the streets, but a modern version of prostitution where working individuals can’t make ends meet and therefore have to engage in dubious activities to make up for the needs their salaries cannot afford.

We preach crime is evil and yet some politicians steal. When they’re caught, big lawyers are hired to engage in long debates that go no where.

Talk of coup d’états and they say this is a modern age and such barbarism should be put behind us, and yet the so-called enlightened leaders that are supposed to live up to expectation are a total failure to the nation.

They come with big talks and big English and big promises, highlighting big achievements that show that they can run a nation competently. Hand the nation’s affairs into their hands and all you get is excuses upon excuses for incompetence. They don’t even have the sense of shame and humility to admit they’ve made mistakes and are mistakes themselves. They were competent at criticizing their opponents, spending so much time becoming experts at pointing fingers, without investing time and resources into building formidable teams that can run a nation.

The end result : experimenting with the lives and destinies of millions of citizens. Fatal experiments!

But the solution to the political mess of any nation on earth is just one strong leader, tough enough to risk re-election for a single term.

With just a single term in mind, one has nothing to lose. Political appointments can be made based on merits and not family ties, and culprits can be punished.

But this is impossible because we have created our own machines of doom, machines to churn out economic hardships for ourselves.

Political candidates stand for elections for many times and lose many times before coming into power and we never ask ourselves where they get money every time to fund elections after every loss.

If such an individual comes to power, wouldn’t that person’s topmost priority be to repay kind donors who believed in them? Wouldn’t the money meant for national projects be diverted into paying huge debts accumulated?

We are the cause of our own problems.

Personally, I think “democracy” is a useless system of governance. If at all it must be practiced anywhere in the world, it needs tailoring to suit the people adopting it. The fact that it works for the United States doesn’t mean it is the best system that should be practiced everywhere.

All systems have faults and there should be a system that works where corrupt politicians can’t take part in elections.

I dont think it even works in the USA either nor does it work anywhere else, its a sort of scam to make you feel like you are in control, your voice and your choice matters.

I remember reading a statement on how if elections really changed anything, they wouldnt let us vote.

So true, ♥️Beaton♥️. It’s sad how a system we trust and think will serve us end up being a facade.
