A limited market. That’s what this country is. The more people are pumped into the system, the the more the market becomes choked;  everyone will eventually go broke.

But these idiots don’t realize that. They claimed they’re giving the next generation a chance. Kaiza has always been in his corner, minding his business. He’s the bad one who doesn’t want to give young new artists a chance to shine. It’s not today lies have been propagated to soil his reputation. Propagation of propaganda, it’s what they’ve always done and keep doing, but he’s always survived one scandal after the other, and kept going.

The last time they said he had resorted to charms to come to fame. That he crossed the borders to see one Mallam, a powerful Islamic priest to fortify him spiritually. The media called him to give clarifications on the myths surrounding him. He ignored them all.

When he was starting out his music career, nobody helped him. Nobody gave him a chance. Usually, many of the young boys of his days were given the stage during university hall week celebrations to showcase their talents.

Kiki, Amba, Kanto and Wayata. That’s how they all started. But as for him Kaiza, nobody gave him any of those chances. They said he was a school dropout. They said he was a bush man, wee smoker who wasn’t cultured, not civilized. They used all sort of big big English words to describe why he didn’t belong.

The first time he had pushed hard and got a nomination, they gave the award to one female artist.  She was friend to his rival. God knows what she gave him to eat to win it.

Obviously any honest citizen could tell her song was no match for his. Even after the awards night, there were controversies surrounding that category and who won it. But the organizers, with their big money and influence, they managed to hush it under the carpet. And the hypocrite media, they stopped probing further as to why Kaiza was denied the award.

But God does not sleep, even if He sometimes feel the urge to. Kaiza knew in His time He was preparing something special to shame his enemies. Kaiza knew he was not perfect. He sometimes gave in to women, alcohol and wee. Can’t remember the last time he stepped into a chapel. But in his heart he knew he owed the old man up in the skies a lot. It wasn’t his will to be in sin, but sometimes the going gets lonely and tough, and all the friends one helped suddenly turn their backs and sell their own.

Kaiza has been watching them all silently. Their day will come. He’s harboring no vengeance, just a couple of lessons to be injected into the fucken heads of all those who let him down when he badly needed them.

Now that he had made it and was living his life low key, these same people who had done everything in their power to stop his shine won’t let him be.

Fans love him. Many people love his no-Nonsense attitude to his music career and lifestyle.

These days, his enemies’ new strategy is to pump a lot of music stars into the already choked music market in the name of young talents. If Kaiza speaks his mind, they’ll say he doesn’t want to give others a chance to shine. He wants to be the only one at the top. Kaiza won’t fall for their trap.

When they kill the music industry and there’s no more money, “We all go eat stones”, he muttered to himself while listening to a new song he was remixing to see what needed to be improved.

He’s noticed what’s slowing killing the talent of his key rival. Too many collaborations. So Kaiza was cautious in the number of collaborations he did per year. He wanted to build a rare, expensive brand that stood the test of time. That’s why occasionally, he goes off the music scene to give his talent a chance to enjoy some fallow period so it doesn’t get depleted.

And thanks to the Old Man up there, each time he returns, he comes with a hit song that stays in the system for months, sometimes it stays at the top of the chart for more than a year.

One day the sun will set on his career. It’s high time he thought of how to finance his life outside of music. He didn’t want to end up like many big shots who were once famous in this country and towards the end of their careers became paupers who had to depend on donations to pay hospital bills and to feed themselves.

His biggest headache was surviving the scandal leading to his divorce. Now he needed to find someone and begin afresh.

He wasn’t getting any younger.
