“Wow. People change,” Samson thought, suddenly feeling proud of himself.

Samson remembered the first day he saw Angela and the short see-through dress she wore that day. He still remembers her inviting glossy lips that he fought hard to not stare at. And that seductive perfume of hers he kept wondering what brand it could be.

He was trying to preach to her, to repent of her evil ways. But a part of him almost envied her.

Angela was one person that made a sinful life look so appealing, she could make people feel there was so much they missed living a chaste life.

He tried to stick to his agenda of counselling her and advising her, checking up from time to time. There was always that temptation to ask her out. But he resisted. That was not why he first approached her. And that was what every guy would do. He needed to be different. And to show her that boys and girls could be friends, a friendship that mustn’t always end up sexual.

Sampson didn’t know what happened along the lines. Perhaps he met so many girls in the course of the evangelism he engaged in with other church members. Perhaps the number of people he needed to coach and pray for were too many that Angela slipped out of the grips of his memory. At times he tried to remember some names. He knew there were people he had lost contact with but he couldn’t recall all the names on that lost list. Too many contacts on his phone.

It was recently when freshers reported to school that he bumped into her. How time flies! Angela was now in level 300 and had completely changed. She was talking to some of the freshers, trying to get their contacts so Sunday she could invite them to church.

“Wow. Angela.” Samson muttered to himself.

He was proud of his handiwork. She was happy to see him and grateful for the impact. She had grown prettier and looked more responsible than he had met her.

In taking her number again, he realized he already had it but couldn’t remember how he saved the contact. It was too late now to pick up from where he left. He was dating. He didn’t know if Angela was single.

Certainly, they were going to stay in touch. But the experience of seeing his investment yield something was truly rewarding.

Back to his room, the events of the day set him thinking. He could not go back to backsliding. He had no excuse to not lead an examplary life. A young girl he had coached had become a very responsible adult, a very active member in the church, and was doing great things for the Lord.

It was his reminder do better, be better and continue to be a role model to many. It was also a form of encouragement to never give up as there were new Angelas he was currently handling who were very stubborn.
