You may not understand what I am about to tell you now, but some day, you will.

Real life, rich and full of adventures, the kind that makes you wander through life like a playful child- sort of carefree, a life full of positive suspense…

Such a life hardly exist in something you plan for and work towards. It happens, like an accident. It happens, like a discovery. It happens, like something out of the blue.

It happens when you decide to try something new from the routine, something spontaneous. It happens, when you start thinking and acting outside the box.

Madness, confusing. So might sound what I am trying to tell you. Have plans and work towards them. You can’t just sit back and expect the good things you want in life to just happen to you like an accident.

But have at the back of your mind in the course of your planning and working, that there is some life in a planned life, and unfortunately, most of it in the unplanned, seemingly accidental life.

What must you do then? Go on with your planned life but leave room for the spontaneous- try learning a new language, try making new friends if you are not the friendly type, try going to the beach on weekdays if you are used to going there on public holidays, try Muslims’ style of dressing, go to church or work with it, … try boarding a plane to a destination you usually go by bus- save up for it if it seems beyond your reach..

Try swimming lessons if you are scared of water, try martial arts if it seems you don’t have a thing for it, try dating someone who seems ‘out of your league’- someone ‘not your type or taste’.

Visit places you are not used to visiting…visit a night club at least once in a lifetime…develop the habit of trying things before forming an opinion of them, try to put aside conventional opinions of many things and discover things for yourself and form your own opinion of them.

For all you know, you will become famous globally for something you never thought you had or could do- something you thought was ‘not my thing’. You might meet someone at such odd places that will inspire you to think differently and coach you to discover a piece of you you never knew existed.

I encourage you to try to live less on schedules and timetables- don’t misunderstand me, they have their place. Become a fan of the spontaneous, the kind of person whose mind is ever open to trying new things irrespective of their age.

The juiciest joys of life live in such habits.
