“You like learning all the time,” my course mates told me. Unknown to them, I had a weakness: I easily forget something I had just looked at.
That meant I had to study for longer hours than usual to retain the contents of whatever I was reading.
Despite this weakness, I graduated from the University of Ghana with first-class degree in English and French in the year 2017.
I learnt a very big lesson: the true reward for my hard work, perseverance, patience and resilience wasn’t my sterling academic performance. The real reward, the true payoff, was the set of skills I had refined overtime:
-continuous self-assessment and improvement
– patience and persistence in the midst of lonely and financially difficult times
-a spirit that believes if someone else has done it, I can also do it, even better.
This set of refined skills became my master key. I discovered I can succeed at anything I do by being open to making mistakes, learning from my mistakes and never giving up on the process of reaching my goal.
